In the recent times where almost every nation have experienced recession, everybody wants to breaks such chains by either saving or earning more. On a buyer’s perspective, saving is a need, while more sales are what sellers prefer. Whether it may be a fifty percent discount, big sale blowout or a buy one take one perk, it will be a hit for every consumer. Buyers will always want to save even if it is as low as a cent. These perks are also good to the sellers since it increases their sales. These bonuses are said to be always of helpful to every shopper, but is this always the case?

At first sight, one might think that buying with discounts or with other added perks will enable one to save money, but sometimes procurement of these items does not really mean saving. Sometimes buying with discounts equates to spending more. An added bonus on items really catches the eye of a consumer. A person roaming around a department store just looking around to see what is in trend unexpectedly came across with an item bearing a tag of buy one take one will suddenly want to buy that item. This is one perfect example of not saving because of discount. One engages to buy something when in fact, that item is not needed at all. People think that when they buy something for a lesser value means that they save. Yes, they may have, but it doesn't apply for all times. People save when buying items which they got for a lesser price, versus when they just buy various merchandises for the sake of buying under discounts. Actually, discounts are more of help to the sellers and not for the consumers. Consumers are just secondary beneficiary of discounts and other bonuses. Sellers do not put discounts on items which are very salable or in trend but to items which are near to obsolescence or with a little damage on it. Sellers just want to make the best out of the worst situation and one good way to do it is to sell those items in lesser amount. Consumers in return will buy those goods on sale for them to save money.

Putting discounts on items is can be a win-win situation for both sellers and buyers. The two both can benefit from this recurring trend. Merchants earn more while costumers save more. However, a wise consumer will never buy any item which is on sale but will carefully criticize whether a certain merchandise is a need or just plain want or luxury.
