Frugal LivingTips in Saving Electricity to Save Money: Part 3
Our clothing is one of our basic needs. It makes the body warm and presentable. To be presentable in the clothes that one is wearing needs maintenance. These maintenance uses electricity so it is also capable of saving electricity. In maintaining the cleanliness of the clothes, washing it is a must and drying it comes next. One way to save energy is to let your washed clothes air dry. You can save energy by air drying instead of using the spin dryer. Drying your clothes by hanging them outside is a better way to dry it than using the spin dryer since it dries out smoothly and fragrant than spin drying it using your dryer. This is because the air flow lets the clothes smooth itself unlike when spin dried wherein the clothes are crumpled. Therefore, some of these clothes do not need to be ironed since the crumpled parts are smoothed out already. Moreover, air dried clothes are more fragrant than that of spin dried clothes because the spin dryer itself is enclosed keeping the smell of wet laundry in it. If you have a uniform which you use in a weekly basis let your ironing session be once a week. If you have lots of clothes and you do not really need to iron once a week, you can do it every two weeks or so. Ironing in bulk saves energy in a way that the heat from the iron is utilized fully. At the moment that the iron is plugged and turned on the flow of electricity starts. And since it is not yet heated enough, you wait for a while. If you do this to iron a piece of clothing several times a week it will waste electricity. But if you do it in bulk, you do not have to reheat your iron over and over again. Plus when the iron is well heated and you have few clothes left to iron, you can turn it off and unplug it already since the heat is enough to iron the few clothes left, making you save even more electricity. Even though the clothes that everybody wears does not have chords and plug unlike appliances, it still need electricity. In maintaining the clothes that we own, one should be mindful of the expenses that can be incurred by it. One way to keep these expenses low is by keeping the use of electricity into minimum amount especially on the clothes that one owns. You can talk about...
